MICHAELA ŠEBESTOVÁ
Mezzosoprano
Michaela Šebestová has been a regular guest soloist at the Opera of the Slovak National Theatre since 2010 and the State Opera Banská Bystrica since 2008, and the State Theatre Košice since 2009 and Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava since 2016.
She is a guest soloist of Janacek State Opera in Brno (National theatre Brno) Czech Republic.
Education
Michaela Sebestova was born on July 5 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
She studied at the Conservatoire in Bratislava and in Topolčany under the professional guidance of A. Šebestová-Kucharska. In 2017 she successfully completed studies of vocal interpretation at FMU AU in Banská Bystrica under the leadership of prof. Sergej Kopčák and prof. Mária Tomanová, ArtD.
In 2020 she successfully completed her PhD. Education at Music Arts Department at FMU AU in B. Bystrica under prof. Tomanová.
Experience
She is a regular guest soloist at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, as well as in the State Opera in Banská Bystrica. As a soloist she has performed with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava, the orchestra of the Slovak National Theater, the State Chamber Orchestra of Žilina, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Košice, the State Opera of Banská Bystrica, the Talich Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestra of the Janacek State Opera in Brno, Cech Republic.
She has cooperated with numerous conductors, like Marco Boemi, Paolo Gatto, Sebastiano Rolli, Pavol Selecky, Dusan Stefanek, Rastislav Stur, Martin Leginus, Igor Dohovic, Igor Bulla, Marian Vach, Jan Prochazka, Pavol Tuzinsky, Marian Lejava, Jiri Strunc, Tomas Brauner, Jaroslav Kyzlink, Philipp Pointner, Friedrich Haider, Zynek Müller, Petr Altrichter, Robert Kružík, Jakub Klecker, Ondrej Olos, Leoš Svarovsky a Ondrej Lenárd.
She has successfully participated in several competitions:
- 2003 - Peter Dvorský master classes, Jaromerice nad Rokytnou
- International singing competition of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský, Trnava, 3rd place
- 2004 - she received an award for participating at master classes by Gabriela Beňačková
- 2005 - the International Singing Competition of Antonín Dvořák, Karlove Vary, finalist
- 2005 - received the prestigious scholarship of Richard Wagner in Bayreuth
- International singing competition of INVENTS CANTI (Vráble) - 1st place and absolute winner
- 2015 - the International Singing Competition BELVEDERE - semifinalist (Amsterdam)
- 2017 - Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský International Competition, Slovakia, the Music Fund Prize for the best interpretation of an aria of the Slovak composer E. Suchoň - the opera Svätopluk: aria Blagota
